Independent Science Research Project

The purpose of this assignment is to give you an opportunity to research a space science topic that you are interested in. The topic must be science related and it must be something you can find information on from the internet and in books. You will present the findings of your research project in a 5 minute presentation in class. You will also turn in a one-page summary and reflective essay one week after your presentation.
Due Dates
Proposal (10 points):  3/22/16
Type up a 1 paragraph document that includes:
o   The topic to be investigated, try to be specific.
o   Why you chose that topic, and what you hope to learn.
o   A little bit of information that you already know about the topic.
o   What you will do for the presentation.

Check in point 1 (10 points): 4/1/16
You must bring in a list of 3 resources you are using, it must include at least one non-internet source (book, magazine, etc.) and be able to talk a little bit to Mr. Kehoe about what you have learned so far.
Check in point 2 (10 points): 4/22/16
You should have evidence of the beginning of a presentation to show Mr. Kehoe. For example you should show Mr. Kehoe your Prezi or video so far, or have material for a poster. You will have access to OneDrive and the internet for this class.
Presentations (40 points) 5/9/16 – 5/27/16  (Sign up for a date at check in point 2)
You must prepare a 5 minute (including questions) presentation that shows what you have learned about your topic. The presentation can take a number of forms (PowerPoint, Poster, Video, Booklet, Demonstration, or something else as long as you get the okay from Mr Kehoe).
Summary and Reflective Essay (20 points): Due 1 week after presentation
This should be 1 page typed and include:
o   What your project was about.
o   A summary of the information you learned.
o   A list of sources that you used. (Minimum 5 with 1 being a non-internet source)
o   A self-reflection about how your research process and how you felt your presentation went.

o   A reflection about what your next big question is based on your research.
